Personality types are broad categories that describe general tendencies and preferences in how people think, feel, and behave. Personality traits, on the other hand, are specific characteristics or dimensions of personality that can be measured and described in terms of degrees or levels. There are many different models of personality that attempt to explain and categorize personality types and traits.
There are many
different ways to categorize and describe personality types. Here are a few
examples:
· Myers-Briggs
Type Indicator (MBTI) - This model categorizes people into 16 different
personality types based on their preferences for different ways of thinking,
feeling, and behaving. The types are named using combinations of four letters,
such as ENFP (extroverted, intuitive, feeling, perceiving) and ISTJ
(introverted, sensing, thinking, judging).
· Big
Five Personality Traits - This model describes personality in terms of five
broad dimensions: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion,
agreeableness, and neuroticism.
· The
Enneagram - This model categorizes people into nine different personality types
based on their motivations, fears, and desires. Each type is named after a
number and has a specific set of traits and characteristics.
· The
HEXACO Personality Inventory - This model describes personality in terms of six
dimensions: honesty-humility, emotionality, extraversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, and openness to experience.
· The
Four Temperaments - This model categorizes people into four different
temperaments based on their dominant traits: choleric (ambitious and
confident), sanguine (outgoing and social), phlegmatic (calm and laid-back),
and melancholic (analytical and introspective).
It's worth noting
that while these models can be useful for understanding personality, they are
not perfect and there is no one "correct" way to categorize or
describe personality types.
According to the
Brain Design Theory, however, it is important to note that fingerprint patterns
have been very helpful in understanding personality, as they are perfect and describe
the full complexity of human personality. When analysing and understanding
fingerprint patterns, they reveal a distinct nature in a person. When the
pattern is seen on the right thumb, then it is said to be the dominant
personality type. All other fingers having different patterns display
supporting personality types and traits. Some have varied fingerprint patterns,
while some have all similar patterns. That’s what makes each person unique. It
is surprising to see the interplay of several personality types and traits in a
person in different situations. Let’s explore this in detail.
The Brain Design
Theory postulates eight basic kinds of personality. They are
